The Boogaloo Project (NYC)

Inspired by one conversation with her father, The Boogaloo Project was born. What first begin as a simple choreography has since evolved into a much larger project with a more ambitious purpose. The purpose of The Boogaloo Project is to study, capture & document the roots of Latin Boogaloo: its birth in NYC, its culture, its music, its history and, perhaps more importantly, provide a platform through which Boogaloo can grow, & flourish, inspire & create future generations of Boogaloo aficionados.

The Project is unique in its very structure. It allows people of different backgrounds, styles, dance levels to join together as one group, using Boogaloo as the vehicle to explore & expand & express their own personal dance styles! The Project has multiple facets from radio to music to film & even theater! In this chapter, The Project will create its version of a typical day in El Barrio.

Originated by Amanda Cardona of Amanda Cardona Dance & with the critical support & partnership with Jonathan Cabrera of Raices Cultural Arts Association & Steven Colon; The Boogaloo Project is thrilled to bring the latest installment to the Bangkok Salsa Fiesta and we thank you for allowing us to share this project & our love of Boogaloo with you all.
